Villa Nieuwland
Villa Nieuwland is a monumental villa in Den Oever with a rich history dating back to the 1920s. Built in 1927, the villa was originally designed as a double house on the MUZ park (Society for the Implementation of the Zuiderzee Works). It served as housing for the senior staff involved in the impressive construction of the Afsluitdijk. The directors Bos and Van Hattum lived in this stately villa, together with their families.
In 1934, the villa was given a new purpose when it was purchased by the Dutch Youth Hostel Centrale. For decades, it provided shelter to young people who stayed there in the spirit of adventure and discovery. In 2011, the building was completely renovated, restoring its original state as much as possible. During the restoration, great care was taken to preserve the original charm and character of the building.
Since 2012, Villa Nieuwland has been transformed into a luxury Bed & Breakfast, where guests can enjoy the serene surroundings and rich history of this unique location. The villa is a wonderful example of how historic buildings can be preserved and repurposed for contemporary use with respect for the past, while providing a warm and welcoming place for the future.
